My Valentine / The One I Love!

My husband Mike is one of the most special people I know and have ever met. He is the most generous and unselfish person in my life. He never thinks of himself in any situation first, its always me or whom ever he is with at the time. Mike is a giver in every way, he would give your the shirt off his back and his last dime if he felt you needed it more then himself. This is absolutely no exaggeration. Everyone has gifts that separate them from other people, you know, personality traits that are different. Mikes gift is giving, he loves to give people stuff. He loves to help folks as well. That is what gives him the most satisfaction in his life. Now, he doesn't accept gifts well, its almost like he doesn't know how to receive or respond when someone returns this process. Sometimes I think he almost overdoes the giving, its like he cannot stop. Like this years Valentines gift, I so love everything he did, but honestly he did not have to do so much. For example, he knows how much I love jewels and even though we can't afford extravagant expensive pieces, he has found a way to get me an occasional ring or necklace without breaking out budget. Mike bought me my Valentine 2 weeks ago. It is an Antique Cameo Ring that is 18 karat gold that he found at Sweetwater Pawn Shop. Its beautiful and I love it. I've wore it everyday for the last 2 weeks. Yesterday was Valentine's Day and that didn't matter, what he got me was absolutely enough. He called me as I was leaving work and told me he wanted to take me to our favorite Mexican restaurant in town because they had a Valentine Special on Strawberry Margareta's, that he knew was my favorite. We met there when I got into Sweetwater, he already had us a table. We had a nice dinner and then he presented me with 2 boxes of chocolate strawberries, white and milk chocolate from Grain Bend Commodities in Sweetwater. That is 2 dozen strawberries! I thanks him because I had said I would love to have some chocolate strawberries this valentines. I meant a couple of strawberries, not 2 dozen. I told him honey, we cannot eat all these strawberries, so he decided the best thing to do was give the owner of our favorite restaurant a box for the folks on staff that were working last night. I said that's a great idea, so he went to his truck and brought in one of the boxes and gave them to the owner. They were so flattered to receive the gift that they decided to do something for Mike in return. As we were checking out the owner told Mike to wait because she had something for him. We stood there a minute and when she came form the back kitchen, Mike just froze in place. She had went to the back and made him a 32 ounce strawberry milkshake loaded with fresh strawberries and toped off with 2 inches of whip cream. It was beautiful! It even had valentines decorations that you don't eat on top of the whip cream. Mike was speechless, and he just looked at me and said , there you go. I hope that didn't hurt her feelings but he couldn't accept it because the strawberries were for me I guess. Anyway, we took it and thanked her for the gift.

Man, when we got home and tasted it, it had cream cheese or yogurt in it I think, it was delicious. My only regret is I should have taken a picture of this milkshake because its too late now, its gone! The reason for me sharing my valentines story with you today is because it reminds me of the scripture in the bible that says, "give and it shall be given unto you". We are truly blessed in our life because we have everything we need. I attribute Mike for his gracious giving gift as the reason that we do have what we have. Mike's extraordinary desire to give to others is by far a unique gift, because he has no filter and can never stop. It doesn't matter who it is or where they come from, if he can make a difference in their life by doing something for them, he does it. This is why I will never worry about whether we are going to be alright because I know God will take care of us until we leave this earth to be with him.
